You will need identification: This can be any Government issued ID that has your photo and a signature. 

If your document requires witnesses you will need to arrange that as well.

Legal ownership and responsibility documents are some of the most common documents that need to be notarized. These can include:

Business Documents

Businesses also need notary services. While not every important document a business uses needs notarization, most can be notarized. These documents can include:

• Articles of Incorporation
• Memorandum of understanding documents
• Vendor contracts
• Commercial leases
• Employment contracts
• Construction Permit Forms

• Any document for which photocopying is prohibited
• Birth Certificate
• Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization

While we can’t advise you on the type of notarization you need, here are some common definitions:

Acknowledgement: This type of notarization ensures that the signer of the document is indeed the person named in the document and your Notary verifies the identity of the person signing.

Jurat: Used primarily in legal documents (Contracts, etc) the signer either gives an Oath or Affirmation  and attests that the contents of the document are true and correct.
